Back into nature!
We have moved away. And paid the price. It’s time to realize this and get back to our roots!
(Please be patient as this page is still under construction. Meditations coming soon. Check back!)
Earth
Humans are a part of the earth. We come into being from the earth, journey through it, and eventually return to it. Our connection to mother earth is strong. It is meant to be. If we choose to move away from it, then we are forsaking a huge bond. Research the word ‘grounding’ or ‘earthing’ and you will know what I mean. The benefits of having our bare skin come in contact with bare soil on land are immense and crucial to our well being as humans. Sadly, we have placed barriers here: plastics, synthetic materials, tar and asphalt, carpet and other similar fabrics, to say nothing of exposing ourselves to radiation emitted from man-made household appliances, cell phones, WiFi, microwaves, and the like.
We need to rekindle this bond. Get our feet bare and walk on the soil of the earth. Feel this connection and the healing that goes along with it. And be grateful for this vital, wondrous FREE gift!
Water
Since the time of the ancient Romans people have been using the therapeutic power of water to cleanse, heal and relax the human body. Hot water promotes sweating, which clears the body of toxins. Cold water recharges, reduces inflammation and helps boost circulation.
Since over 60% of our bodies are made up of water, we are bound to be in sync with this earth medium. But we need to expose our bodies to this on a regular basis. A simple paddle down a river, a swim, a walk along a beach, or even a family picnic by a lakeside, all of these offer great benefits for the human body, both for our physical and mental well being.
Fire
Fire can warm your food or burn your house down. It is a force of purification or destruction. Take some time to be with fire in a sacred way. Let it enchant you, purify you, and empower you as it has done for countless others throughout the centuries. The people of long ago recognized the power of fire and grew to respect it, infusing this element with prayer and reverence.
We still use fire today to connect ourselves with the spiritual bond we have with the earth. People of many religions today over the course of their lives, use fire as part of sacred rituals, highlighting the connection we have felt to it since time immemorial. Not only does fire consume, but it can transform and create as well. There is also the element of sacrifice tied to the flames. Basking in its warm glow, it is easy to reflect, dream, let go, and be thankful, knowing that it will be well received and taken up into the heavens.
Air
Breathing is one of the most natural things for us. But during times of stress, breathing is affected. Rapid breathing promotes physical and emotional stress. And so the cycle continues, ruining our health, relationships and our state of mind.
But when we make ourselves more aware of our breathing, its rhythm and the life giving air we take deep into our lungs, then we slowly release tensions of the mind. We have a tendency to accumulate emotional stress deep inside of us. When we concentrate our breathing to those depths, we can alleviate that stress. We rid ourselves of those repressed emotions and feel lighter. Air can be healing!
